On 7 April 2022, an interaction program with the team from the World Bank Regional Office was organized at Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel. The program was moderated by Dr. Uddhab Pyakurel, Associate Director of the Global Engagement Division.
The delegation from the World Bank was led by Ms. Lynne D. Sheburne-Benz, Regional Director of World Bank. Other participants included Mr. Rene Antonio Leon Solono, Mr. Mohan Aryal, Ms. Sangeeta Pinto, Ms. Jyoti Maya Pandey, and Ms. Maya Sherpa.
Prof. Dr. Bal Chandra Luitel, the Dean of the School of Education provided a brief presentation about KU. The presentation highlighted the areas of cooperation between the World Bank and Kathmandu University in the past, the presentation also provided insights into the present focus areas of the academic programs, its research programs, community and university partnerships, and its internationalization strategies.
Following the presentation, the floor was opened for discussions whereby interaction on several academic topics and cross-cutting issues were discussed.
Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, in his closing remarks, provided a brief overview of the establishment philosophy of Kathmandu University and highlighted the support it received from the World Bank over the years.
